Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information QRForge ("we", "us") collects when you use our website, why we collect it, and your rights. We are based in Ontario, Canada, and handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). The person accountable for privacy at QRForge can be reached at privacy@qrforge.example.
The short version
The QR codes you create are generated entirely in your browser. The content you encode — links, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details — is never sent to us and never stored on our servers. We do, however, use cookies for analytics and advertising, which is what most of this policy is about.
1. Information we collect
- QR code content: none. What you type into our generators is processed locally in your browser and is never transmitted to or stored by us.
- Analytics data. We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are popular. This may include your approximate location (country/region), device and browser type, and the pages you visit.
- Advertising data. We display ads through third-party networks (such as Google AdSense) which may set cookies and collect data to show relevant ads and measure performance.
- Information you send us. If you email us or use the contact form, we receive whatever you choose to share (your name, email, and message).
2. Why we collect it
We collect this limited information to operate and improve the site, to display advertising that helps keep the tools free, and to respond to messages you send us. We do not sell your personal information.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies: essential cookies that make the site work, analytics cookies that help us understand usage, and advertising cookies set by our ad partners. When required, we ask for your consent before non-essential (analytics and advertising) cookies are set, and you can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
4. Third parties and international transfers
We rely on trusted third-party providers — including Google (for analytics and AdSense) and affiliate networks — to operate the site. These providers may process and store data on servers located outside Canada, including in the United States, where privacy laws differ from those in Canada. By using the site you understand that your information may be processed in those countries. We share only the categories of data described above and only for the purposes stated.
5. How we protect your information
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the limited, low-sensitivity data we handle, including serving the site over HTTPS. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but generating codes client-side means the most sensitive content never leaves your device.
6. Retention
We keep analytics data only as long as needed to understand trends, and messages you send us only as long as needed to assist you. Because QR code content is never collected, there is nothing for us to retain.
7. Your rights
Under PIPEDA you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, email privacy@qrforge.example and we will respond within 30 days.
8. Children
QRForge is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above when we do, and significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
